Abstract
Wheels of Fury is a comic spaghetti Western narrative that finds revenge-minded Sheriff and widow Pepper Mills forming an uneasy alliance with the tidy Cooking Cowboy Dusty Bitz in an obsessive quest for psychotic outlaw Colin Boils. Wheels of Fury was co-directed and co-written by Dan Dinello and Paul Dinello in collaboration with Mitch Rouse and Stephen Colbert.
The film stars Paul Dinello, Mitch Rouse, and Amy Sedaris. Dan Dinello plays the “Gothic Cowboy.” Wheels of Fury was shot on 16mm film by Ted Bokhof in Tennessee with an all-Chicago crew.
Wheels of Fury premiered at the Arizona International Film Festival, 1998, and screened at numerous festivals in the United States, including the Chicago Underground Film Festival, the New York Underground Film Festival, the Telluride IndieFestival, the Fort Worth Film Festival, and the Big Muddy Film Festival as well as several festivals in Europe, including The Berlin Underground Festival: Circles of Confusion, Hamburg Kurzfest, Kino Fest: the Manchester International Short Film Festival, and Stuttgarter Filmwinter, 2001. It won the Gold Jury Award for Best Short at the Chicago Underground Film Festival, Best of the Fest at Telluride IndieFestival, and Honorable Mention for the Christopher Wetzel Award for comedy at the Chicago Art Institute.
Partial funding for the film derived from a Columbia College Faculty Development Award.
