Abstract
Loosely assembled footage depicts a mass at Holy Rosary Parish and a celebratory procession to nearby Smith Park in honor of St. Roch, followed by coverage of a mass and picnic held in Grant Park on August 29, 1982 to welcome Joseph Bernardin as the incoming Catholic archbishop of Chicago. Various signs displayed at the Grant Park gathering read, “CHICAGO’S LITHUANIAN AMERICANS WELCOME ARCHBISHOP BERNARDIN,” “ET LUUUV’S BISHOPFEST,” and “GOD LOVES DIVORCED CATHOLICS.” Concluding footage briefly depicts a mass held at Holy Name Cathedral.
