Abstract
Loosely assembled footage depicts various festivals held in summer 1984 including the 8th Annual Morgan Park Roots Picnic in Ada Park, the 5th Annual Bucktown Summer Fest, Break Fest Chicago Style ‘84, the South Loop Neighborhood Fair, the Fall Festival in Independence Park, the 1st Annual Italian Neighborhood Festival in University Village, and Music of the Americas held at Montrose Harbor and the South Shore Country Club. Shots feature a variety of food, music, dancing, gymnastics, petting zoos, interviews with residents, and special appearances by Mayor Harold Washington at the Morgan Park Roots Picnic and a Mexican Civil Society event.
