Upon Dr. Wright's passing in 2003, the films were inherited by her niece, Peggy Judd, who donated them to CFA in 2024.

Dr. Emily Ellyn Wright (1920 - 2003) was born and raised in Ceredo, West Virginia. She knew she wanted to be a doctor from a young age and pursued this goal with great energy and determination despite discouragement from teachers who did not believe a woman could become a doctor. She received a bachelor's in chemistry from Marshall University in 1942, but because no women were accepted into medical schools during World War II, she had to wait until 1946 to enter the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where she would go on to complete her degree in 1950. She was the first female chief resident at Cincinnati's Bethesda Hospital and, in addition to being on staff there for her 33-year career, she entered a group practice at the Wyoming Medical Center in Wyoming, Ohio. Her forte was delivering high-risk pregnancies. She did it with compassion and common sense, stating that "I never lost a mother. I just treated patients as I would like to be treated. That's all."

Dr. Wright was an avid amateur filmmaker, shooting beautiful 16mm footage of her extensive travels both abroad and around the United States.
